<p>Five villages in Koratagere taluk of Tumakuru district and two villages in Doddaballapur of Bengaluru Rural district will be fully displaced due to the Yettinahole project.<br /><br />Similarly, nine villages in Bengaluru Rural will be partially displaced, making it one of the biggest displacements around Bengaluru. <br /><br />The government has completed the Social-Impact Assessment study besides identifying places to relocate more than 350 families which would be displaced. The Yettinahole project proposes to divert nearly 24 tmcft of water towards Kolar, Tumakuru, Doddaballapur, Chikkaballapur and other areas. <br /><br />A 5.78-tmcft capacity reservoir to store potable water from Yettinahole will be constructed at Byragondlu and the canal passes for a length of 3.2 km in Koratagere taluk and for 1.3 km in Doddaballapur in Bengaluru Rural district. <br /><br />Based on the report prepared by the Visvesaraya Jala Nigama Limited, a copy of which is with the DH, along with Social-Impact Assessment report, tenders have been called to take up resettlement and rehabilitation work. Technical and financial bidding will be opened by August 10, 2017. <br /><br />Five villages which will be completely submerged are: Veerasagara, Lakkamuttanahalli, Belladahalli, Gajamenahalli and Sunkadahalli. <br /><br />A total extent of 1,574 acres and 36 guntas of land in these villages will be submerged, according to the report submitted in this regard on June 30, 2017. Similarly, a total of 11 villages will be partially submerged in Kolala hobli in Koratagere taluk with an extent of 1,106.15 acres. <br /><br />The canal construction would submerge 2,678 acres of land spread across 11 villages at Doddaballapur taluk. According to the report, two villages in Bengaluru Rural district – Lakkenahalli and Garudakallu – will be completely submerged. <br /><br />The report stated that among the families in villages to be submerged in Koratagere taluk, 355 (1,343 members) belong to Scheduled Castes and Tribes (SC/ST).<br /><br />“The social impact assessment report has been submitted. The agency which conducted the assesment has been asked to make certain changes. A total of 1,053 acres of land has been identified in Koratagere taluk to create rehabilitation centres. All these are government lands while rehabilitation and resettlement centres will be constructed on the lines of Upper Krishna project,'' an official said.<br /></p>
