Kejriwal lauds graft-free Delhi Metro

He cited the example of the Delhi Metro to slam the government's claim that the 15,000 employees needed to set up the office of Lokpal would lead to more corruption.

"There are 232 officials in the Central Vigilance Commission and most of them are corrupt whereas there are 7,000 officials in the Delhi Metro who work efficiently, free of corruption," Kejriwal told reporters here.

Applauding the efforts of Sreedharan, Kejriwal said it was because of the tough anti-corruption mechanisms in place that even corrupt officials when posted in the Delhi Metro suddenly became efficient.

"Corrupt railway officials when on deputation to the Delhi Metro suddenly become efficient and stop their corrupt practices," said Kejriwal. "Maybe that is because of Sreedharan," said Kejriwal.

"I had a word with Sreedharan today (Monday) morning and he told me that the mechanisms in place in the Delhi Metro shall tackle corruption effortlessly if looked after even after he retires," he added.
