<p>Thiruvananthapuram: Four school girls were killed after a cement laden truck rammed into them at Karimba near Kalladikode on the suburbs of Palakkad district of Kerala on Thursday.</p><p>The gruesome incident triggered strong protest by local people as they have been complaining against the frequent accidents along the stretch, which is Palakkad - Kozhikode national highway, allegedly due to unscientific construction.</p>.20-year-old killed while making reel in Kerala .<p>The incident took place by around 4 pm. All the deceased were eighth standard students of the nearby school. They were returning from school.</p><p>According to local sources, the truck lost control and rammed into the students who were walking through the roadside. The truck also toppled over them. All the four students died on the spot, while a few students were also injured. The deceased were identified as Irfana, Rita, Ayisha and Nita, all residents of the locality.</p><p>There were reports that the truck lost control after hitting another vehicle. The truck driver and co-driver were kept in police custody.</p><p>Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who expressed condolences, gave direction to inquire into the incident and take corrective measures.</p><p>Last month five persons, including two children, were killed after a lorry ran over a group of nomads who were sleeping on an under construction stretch of the national highway at Thrissur in central Kerala.</p>
