<p>Thiruvananthapuram: The tiger scare at <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/wayanad">Wayanad </a>in Kerala escalated further on Sunday as the man-eater tiger attacked a forest official involved in the search operation.</p><p>Jayasurya, a 28 year old member of the rapid response team (RRT) of the forest department, suffered minor injuries in the attack. </p><p>He had a narrow escape as he managed to prevent the attack using a shield.</p> .Wayanad tiger attack: Locals stage protest, demand big cat be killed.<p>Jayasurya, who is under treatment for injuries suffered on right hand, told a section of the media that the tiger jumped towards him from behind. </p><p>He swiftly blocked the tiger using his shield and the tiger slipped over it causing a scratch on his right hand. The tiger again went into the dark.</p><p>Local people waylaid forest minister A K Saseendran who visited the family of plantation worker Radha at Pancharakolli near Manathavady who was killed in the attack by the tiger on Friday. </p> .<p>The local people accused the minister of ignoring the serious concern of the people. The minister also invited the ire of the people for enjoying a fashion show at Kozhikode on Saturday and even signing at the venue while the people were living under the scare of the tiger.</p><p>Police somehow managed to take the minister to Rdha's house.He handed over an appointment order to a temporary job for Radha's son. </p><p>Saseendran later told reporters that as directed by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, orders to hunt the tiger were given. He also added that the efforts to trace the tiger were progressing effectively. </p> .<p>Already the chief wildlife warden had issued orders to hunt the tiger in case efforts to cage or tranquilize it fails. In view of the attack on forest officials, the tiger is likely to be shot. There were reports that even as the tiger was once spotted and fired, it missed the target.</p><p>Around ten teams of forest officials are involved in the search for the tiger that was killed in Wayanad on Friday. Forest chief veterinary surgeon Dr Arun Zachariah is leading the search operation.</p><p>The Kerala forest officials are also learnt to be in touch with their counterparts in Karnataka to know the whereabouts of the killer tiger.</p>
