<p>Thiruvananthapuram: A global Ayyappa convention to be organised by the CPM government in Kerala at Pamba near<a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/sabarimala-ayyappa-temple"> Sabariamala Ayyappa temple </a>seems to be running into rough weather with the BJP raising protest citing the announcement of a woman activist, who entered the hill shrine in 2019, that she will be also attending the convention.</p><p>The state government last week announced that the global Ayyappa convention will be held on the banks of Pamba near Sabarimala in September. The move is widely interpreted as a step to counter the anti-Hindu campaigns against the CPM. Will the CPM government hold similar meets at churches and mosques, he asked..</p><p>Devaswom Minister V N Vasavan had announced the government decision to hold the global Ayyappa meet in connection with the 75th anniversary of the Travancore Devaswom Board that manages the temple. They were reportedly provided police protection and the CPM was then in power.</p><p>Meanwhile, the BJP is also trying to counter the CPM government's decision to hold the global Ayyappa convention by criticising that many pressing infrastructure projects for Sabarimala devotees, including the Sabari rail project, were pending for long time and the state government was not taking effective steps to implement those.</p>
