<p>Guwahati: A Bangladesh national, who was attacked by villagers in South West Khasi Hills district on Friday following an alleged abduction attempt, died on Monday.</p><p>Police said the deceased, Akram, was the sixth person, who was part of a group of miscreants, who illegally crossed the border and tried to abduct a local shopkeeper at Rongdangai village on Friday. The local residents chased them after the group allegedly took the shopkeeper, Balsrang Marak away and held him hostage. </p><p>Akram, police said, was a resident of Jengahati village in Sherpur district of Bangladesh. </p><p>SP of South West Khasi Hills district, B. Jyrwa said Akram was found injured at around 4.30 pm on Monday at Kaithakona village under Nonghyllam police station. He was handed over to the BSF personnel at Kaithakona and was taken to a public health centre, where he was declared brought dead. </p><p>Meghalaya shares 443 kms of border with Bangladesh. </p><p>Five other members of the group, Mefus Rehman, Jangir Alom, Meruphur Rahman, Saem Hussain and Mubarak Hussain were caught from a couple of border villages on Saturday and Sunday. BSF found some sharp weapons from their possession, police source said.</p><p>The five arrested persons were taken to police custody while post-mortem of the deceased was conducted on Monday.</p><p>The South West Khasi Hills SP said a case has been registered at Nonghyllam police station and a thorough investigation started to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident. </p>
