Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav broke his silence over the Dadri incident, saying that the attack was a “pre-planned conspiracy” hatched by those who were responsible for the Muzaffarnagar communal violence

The SP supremo said the conspiracy was hatched by “three leaders of a particular party”. “The state government will take stern action against them if their involvement is proved,” he added, hinting at action against some controversial saffron leaders.

The SP supremo also launched a veiled attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said the latter would not be able to fulfil his promise of “growth and development for all” if he did not take a serious view of such incidents.

In an apparent bid to send a message to the Muslim community, considered to be his party’s core vote bank, Mulayam said he would not hesitate to “sacrifice” his own party government in the state if it resulted in ensuring justice to the victims.

“While a young man is guarding the nation, his family is targeted,” Mulayam said, while speaking to reporters here on Thursday. One of the victim’s son is an engineer with the Air Force.

He said some people think that such incidents would benefit them in the elections, but they are wrong. “They will not be benefitted by communal violence,” he added.
Mulayam expressed his concern at what he termed was “targeting” one particular community and said that it was not good for the country.

Though Mulayam refused to reveal any names, according to the SP sources here, controversial BJP legislator Sangeet Som could face the state government’s wrath.

“Som is also an accused in the Muzaffarnagar communal riots case and he had visited Bisara after the incident and delivered provocative speech,” said a senior SP leader.
