Police used water cannons and tear gas shells to stop and disperse Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers on September 13 in Santragachhi area of Howrah. This was amid their call for the ‘Nabanna Chalo’ march against the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government on September 13. Protesters in huge numbers participated in the march.
