<p>A Delhi court on Thursday fixed March 20 as a fresh date for execution of four death row convicts in the 2012 Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case.</p>.<p>This is the fourth time that date of hanging has been fixed for the convicts in Tihar jail . With the rejection of mercy plea by the four convicts on Wednesday, the Delhi government as well as Tihar jail authorities had moved the court for the purpose, contending all legal (appeal) and constitutional (mercy) remedies stood exhausted in the case.</p>.<p>Additional Sessions Judge Dharmender Rana ordered that the four convicts would be hanged at 5.30 am on March 20.</p>.<p>“We hope that this is the final date of hanging. Everything has to come to end one day. We would fight till they are hanged as they would still try new tricks. Our victory would come when they are finally executed,” Nirbhaya's mother told reporters.</p>.<p>The trial court had first issued the death warrants against the convicts for January 22. This was subsequently deferred to February 1 and then to March 3 due to pendency of mercy plea by one or another of the convicts.</p>.<p>Four convicts -- Mukesh Kumar Singh (32), Pawan Kumar Gupta (25), Vinay Kumar Sharma (26) and Akshay Kumar (31) – were sentenced to the capital punishment in gruesome gang rape and murder of a 23-year-old woman in a moving bus in South Delhi on December 16, 2012.</p>.<p>The SC had on May 5, 2017 upheld the death penalty. It had rejected separate review petitions and curative petitions by all the four convicts. It had dismissed even writ petitions by the two convicts against rejection of mercy petitions by the President.</p>
