Political heirs all set to face the ballot in Rajasthan

Braving the scorching heat of Jodhpur, a ten-year-old Kashvini Gehlot addresses the crowd at Ghanta Ghar (Clock Tower) by saying, "Do vote for my father Vaibhav Gehlot". She is the daughter of Vaibhav Gehlot, Congress candidate for Lok Sabha polls in Jodhpur and grand daughter of chief minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot.

While she addressed the crowd on the last leg of campaigning, both senior and junior Gehlots were seated on the stage. Her mother Himani Gehlot, who has also been busy campaigning, was sitting with her mother-in-law in the front row. The roadshow featuring Ashok Gehlot and Vaibhav Gehlot started from Mehrangarh fort. It took three hours to conclude at Ghanta Ghar amid the fanfare.

The Congress road show took place exactly 13 hours after BJP chief Amit Shah held an electrifying campaign through the lanes of Jodhpur on Friday night. The BJP's roadshow that also witnessed thousands of supporters was led by former CM Vasundhara Raje, BJP leader Prakash Javadekar in support of sitting MP Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.

Interestingly while PM Modi and Amit Shah both campaigned for their candidate in Jodhpur, from Congress, none of the star campaigners came except the CM himself who has represented the constituency as MP five times.

In another hot seat Barmer former Union minister Jaswant Singh's son Manvendra Singh from the Congress fighting against BJP's Kailash Choudhry, the last day of campaigning was interesting. Actor Sunny Deol held his first roadshow today after joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He campaigned for BJP Lok Sabha candidate Kailash Choudhary from Barmer.

Similarly in Rajsamand constituency former royal Diya Kumari will face Devki Nandan Gurjar, both candidates took out separate road shows. In Jhalawar where Vasundhara Raje's son Dushyant Singh is aiming for a fourth tenure as MP, he spent his entire day among the people.

The 13 constituencies from Rajasthan will go to polls on April 29. While BJP is trying to repeat its landslide victory of 2014, the Congress has had its confidence boost after winning the recent assembly elections.
