Search on for Sree's friend who destroyed proof

 The Delhi Police are looking for an associate of Rajasthan Royals cricketer S Sreesanth for his alleged involvement in the Indian Premier League spot-fixing case and for allegedly destroying evidence from the cricketer’s hotel room in Mumbai.

Public Prosecutor Rajiv Mohan told a Saket court on Sunday that the name of Abhishek Shukla had come up during Sreesanth’s interrogation at the special cell’s office at Lodhi Road.

The court was told that in one of the intercepted conversations, Shukla was heard asking someone to clean Sreesanth's Sofitel hotel room immediately after he was arrested on May 16. “We need to interrogate Sreesanth to know the whereabouts of Shukla and his role in spot-fixing. We are trying to find out who this person is and strongly suspect that he is a bookie,” Mohan said.

Several bills of parties thrown by Sreesanth were also footed by Shukla as his PAN card number was mentioned in the bills.

Sreesanth was staying at the hotel, nearly 20 km away from the team’s Trident Hotel, with close friend and bookie Jiju Janardhan. Police investigation has revealed that some articles were removed from the room after Sreesanth was arrested.

The room had been booked for Sreesanth since May 13, and police are probing whether it had been reserved by a bookie to discuss spot-fixing. It has come to light that the hotel’s bill was paid in cash the morning after Sreesanth was arrested.Mumbai Police have already recovered a laptop, mobile phones, iPads and Rs 72,000 in cash from the two rooms in which Sreesanth and Jiju had been staying. Sources, however, say that Mumbai Police have refused to share information with Delhi Police.
