Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, JD(U) chief alleged that the government has gone back from its own decision of conducting a caste census by Census Commissioner of India.
The JD(U) chief has said that the cabinet decision of conducting poverty-cum-caste survey from June, 30 to December 2011 by the state governments using MGNREGA labors will make the exercise casual and perfunctory. “The coverage omissions and quality deficiencies in the survey will be extremely high making it futile caste count,” said Yadav.
The JD(U) chief demanded that the government should tax the use of diesel in mobile (cellular) towers and luxury cars (SUV), to subsidise the diesel used by farmers and common people. He said he would write to Petroleum Minister Jaipal Reddy to demand it.
Sharad Yadav said the government is not able to control the prices, and the hike in petroleum prices has made life of the common people difficult.
