'Should a person who includes criminals in his party, get all his cases dismissed': Kejriwal takes dig at Shah

New Delhi: AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on Monday mounted an attack on the ruling BJP over the Bills seeking removal of top political executives at the centre and states upon their prolonged custody, asking whether a leader who whitewashes cases after inducting corrupt people in their parties should resign and what should be the jail term for one who falsely implicate another in cases.

His remarks came as Home Minister Amit Shah asked how appropriate it is for such ministers, Chief Ministers, or Prime Minister to run the government while sitting in jail when they are accused of corruption or facing charges with a sentence of more than five years.

"Should a person who includes criminals of serious crimes in his party, gets all their cases dismissed, and makes them ministers, deputy chief ministers, or chief ministers, also be required to resign from his position?" Kejriwal said.

"How many years of imprisonment should such a person face? If someone is falsely implicated in a case, sent to jail, and later acquitted, how many years of imprisonment should the minister who falsely implicated him face?" he posted on 'X'.

Kejriwal was apparently referring to allegations of BJP inducting leaders who it had earlier accused of corruption.

On Sunday, AAP Rajya Sabha floor leader Sanjay Singh said, "the relationship between corruption and the BJP is like that of Laila and Majnu, Romeo and Juliet. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP loves the corrupt. In which party are leaders like Ajit Pawar, Narayan Rane, G Janardhan Reddy, BS Yeddyurappa, Mukul Roy, Himanta Biswas Sarma, Suvendu Adhikari."
