Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam has announced Rs 5 crore in aid for cyclone-hit Andhra Pradesh, besides measures to help the neighbouring state restore power in affected areas.

During a review meeting here, Panneerselvam said his Andhra Pradesh counterpart Chandrababu Naidu had over the phone sought whatever aid possible from the Tamil Nadu as Hudhud left behind a trail of destruction after making its landfall in Visakhapatnam on Sunday.

Responding to this, the state government has, apart from sanctioning financial assistance, decided to provide transformers and all power equipments. “Our government will send 100 transformers, 5,000 electric poles, 10,000 insulators and other technical equipment to replace the damaged ones,” the chief minister said.
