<p>Lucknow: Putting at rest the speculations of any rift, the Samajwadi Party (SP) has made it clear that its alliance with the Congress will continue in Uttar Pradesh and that the two parties will contest the next assembly, which is two years away, in the state together.</p><p>SP president Akhilesh Yadav, in an interaction with the reporters here on Tuesday, said that the I.N.D.I.A. alliance was "intact".</p><p>‘’Our alliance with the Congress in UP is intact...those who want to leave the alliance, can go,’’ he said. The SP president’s remarks came after Congress MP from Saharanpur Imran Masood’s statement that the grand old party did not need any ‘baisakhi’ (help) to contest the polls in UP.</p>.Adityanath 'lacks courage' to face farmers on ground: Akhilesh Yadav.<p>‘’We are not concerned with what some leaders write on social media or say. The alliance is on,’’ he added.</p><p>SP and Congress had contested the 2024 Lok Sabha polls in alliance in the state and had bagged 43 of the 80 seats dealing a big blow to the BJP, whose tally came down to 33 from 63 which it had won in the state in the 2019 LS elections.</p><p>SP sources said that Akhilesh’s remarks were aimed at sending a clear message to the party leaders and workers, who were sceptical about the continuation of the alliance between the two parties.</p><p>Sources also said that the two alliance partners were likely to thrash out the seat-sharing formula much ahead of the assembly polls and launch their campaign.</p><p>Congress was already working on a strategy to attract the Dalit voters to its side and had recently organised programs across the state for this purpose. Congress leaders had also targeted BSP supremo Mayawati over what they claimed was her "tacit" understanding with the BJP.</p>
