<p>The Income Tax Department has impounded the passport of arms dealer Sanjay Bhandari in connection with a tax evasion case against him.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Bhandari was in the limelight recently following reports that the Finance Ministry was reviewing an investigative report that claims that he bought a “benami” or proxy-owned mansion in London for Robert Vadra in 2009.<br /><br />The action came against the backdrop of investigators fearing that Bhandari may leave the country, official sources said. Bhandari could not be contacted for his comments.<br />The I-T Department has summoned Bhandari for questioning after investigators found more leads in the case.
