Samana Manaskara Vedike will organise an interactive programme on natural calamity and future course of action at Bal Bhavan on October 13, forum convener Nanda Subbaiah said.

Addressing reporters here on Tuesday, Subbaiah said that there are multiple interpretations of causes of floods in Kodagu. The programme is meant to assess the reality, by conducting an interaction with geologist Aichettira Machaiah.Nanda Subbaiah meanwhile said that the forest department’s negligence resulted in the death of ‘Ranga’, a tamed elephant, at Mattigodu elephant camp on Monday.

There are 29 elephants in Dubare. After providing food in the morning, the pachyderms are let into forest for grazing. A similar system is followed in Mattigodu elephant camp. But, those responsible for taking care of Ranga had let him out of the camp during the wee hours, which resulted in his death, Nanda Subbaiah added.Forum leader K Abdulla was present in the press meet.
