Last Updated 12 March 2019, 17:57 IST

The district unit of Jaya Karnataka threatened to boycott the Lok Sabha election if the district administration fail to tackle the sand crisis and trace the seven missing fishermen.

At the protest rally at Martyrs’ Memorial, Sathish Poojary Saligrama, district president, accused the Central and state governments of being reluctant to solve the sand crisis that is bothering the district for years. “There is sand crisis in the district. Development work has come to a standstill,” he complained.

He expressed dissatisfaction over the disinterest shown by authorities in searching the missing fishermen. “Several months have passed and fishermen are yet to be traced. If the authorities fail to solve the sand crisis, then the Jaya Karnataka will launch a campaign to convince voters to boycott the election,” he warned.
