Jayaprakash Hegde meets BJP leaders

Ripples were created within the BJP with former MP Jayaprakash Hegde, a BJP ticket aspirant from Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha constituency, emerged from the shadows to take centre stage at a meeting with BJP leaders in the city.

The meeting was held at City Municipal Council president K M Shilpa Rajashekhar's residence on Friday evening.

"The 90-minute meeting was attended by BJP leaders and representatives from CMC, zilla panchayat and taluk panchayat," sources told DH.

A leader present in the meeting quoted other leaders and said that the party should consider the opinion of the public and elected representatives from the party while issuing a ticket to the candidates.

"Jayaprakash Hegde is a deserving candidate and has a clean image as a politician," he added.

Leaders appreciated Hegde and said that he is making honest attempts to get the ticket. He is also collecting views from the public in this regard.

Leaders Devaraj Shetty, Shilpa Rajashekhar, T Rajashekhar, H D Thammaiah, B G Somashekharappa, Mutthaiah and Pushparaj were present.
