Keep diabetes at bay with Ayurvedic herbs

Diabetes is one of the most common lifestyle disorders plaguing the country today. Complicated in its pathogenesis, diabetes can become the precursor for many other illnesses. It can cause heart problems, stroke, kidney disease and high blood pressure, leading to severe renal failure.

In such a scenario, Ayurveda can be the answer to this growing health menace. Try these eight Ayurvedic herbs to prevent diabetes:

  • Harada is an important herb in diabetes treatment. It also helps in curing migraine, tooth infections, eye problems, urinary problems, jaundice, constipation, etc. It boosts immunity, detoxifies the body, and heals wounds quickly.
  • Amla is highly effective in keeping the blood glucose levels under check. It prevents a spike in blood sugar after meals.
  • Vidanga is a rejuvenating herb that cleanses the blood, cures inflammation and infestation, checks nausea, and counters fatigue. It functions well on medha dhatu and hence works efficiently against diabetes.
  • Raj patha acts as blood purifier and brain enhancer. It is effective in a number of diseases including diabetes.
  • Lajalu has anticancer and antioxidant properties. It is beneficial in asthma and arthritis too. It is an immunity booster and catalyses healing of wounds.
  • Brahmi buti controls anxiety and stress. It also lowers the sugar level in blood and cures indigestion.
  • Nirmali protects the kidney from damage if one suffers from diabetes. It also acts against anaemia and abdominal problems.
  • Gorakh buti maintains renal health and regulates blood glucose.
