Second, third generation politicians in Maha fray

The battle of votes in Maharashtra will see several second and third generation politicians in the fray.

The focus, however, will be on the Pawar and Vikhe-Patil families, who are launching their third generation into the electoral politics.

While NCP supremo Sharad Pawar's daughter Supriya Sule had been renominated from the family seat of Baramati, his grand nephew Parth Pawar is contesting from Maval, that is spread over Raigad and Pune districts.

From neighbouring Ahmednagar seat, Sujay Vikhe-Patil is contesting for the BJP. Sujay is the son of senior Congressman and Maharashtra's Leader of Opposition Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil and the grandson of eight-term MP Balasaheb Vikhe-Patil.

From Dhule, former state minister Rohidas Patil's son Kunal Patil, who is an MLA, is trying his luck.

Late BJP stalwarts Gopinath Munde's and Pramod Mahajan's daughters Pritam Munde and Poonam Mahajan are contesting from Beed and Mumbai North Central, respectively.

Late Bollywood couple Sunil Dutt and Nargis' daughter Priya Dutt is contesting from the Mumbai North Central.

From Mumbai South, ex-MP Milind Deora - who is son of late Congress loyalist Murli Deora is contesting the polls.

In Nashik, senior OBC leader and former deputy chief minister Chhagan Bhujbal's nephew Sameer Bhujbal is contesting.

Former chief minister Vasantdada Patil's grandson Vishal Patil is contesting from Sangli on a ticket of the Swabhimani Shetkari Sangathana.

Former chief minister and ex-home minister Shankarrao Chavan's son Ashok Chavan is contesting from the family seat of Nanded.

B R Ambekar's grandson Prakash Ambedkar, who has founded the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi, is contesting from the two seats of Akola and Solapur.

From Yavatmal-Washim, Shiv Sena's Bhawna Gawli is contesting. Her father Pundalikrao Gawli was also a law-maker.

BJP's Heena Gavit, the daughter of former minister Dr Vijay Gavit is renominated from Nandurbar.

In Osmanabad, its a fight between two second-generation cousins — NCP's Rana Jagjitsinh Patil, the son of former energy minister Padamsinh Patil and Omraje Nimbalkar, the son of late Pawanraje Nimbalkar.
