Last Updated 23 May 2018, 17:04 IST

To make coffee and conversation more interesting and colourful, cafe owners in the city are coming up with artistically done up interiors. These cafes are inspired by their passion for travelling, love for art and books. Check out some of the art cafes the city hosts.

Art Cafe, Rajajinagar

The cafe located on the bridge of Brigade Gateways is a place where one can sip on their coffee while checking out the beautiful artworks. From watercolour to oil painting, this cafe has them all. Most of these artworks are by upcoming artists while you may also find the ones done by established artists. There is a new set of paintings every month. While most of them are based on a theme, there are also non-thematic ones.

Cafe Artelier, New Thippasandra

The cafe is unique — it is a psychological well-being centre and a chilled out place to hang out at. There are a couple of creative rooms here. There is a room for people to pen down their thoughts and ideas through letters (you can choose to be anonymous), called ‘Art for an Artist’. The room is decorated with paintings, portraits and other artistic works, which are on sale.

The ‘Devil’s Mind’ room is a room that has a canvas that people can use to paint and sketch. It is a good way to refresh their long lost hobbies. The ‘Travel Diary’ is a room for the explorers to talk about their favourite travel destination. It is also a way for other travellers to plan their next vacation. There is also a middle sector used for the consultation purpose. The cafe is on the rooftop, which is open for all to showcase their art.

DYU Art cafe, Koramangala

DYU art cafe is a Portugal fort-themed cafe, inspired by another cafe in Kochi. The interior decorations are from an old house in Kerala. The cafe showcases paintings, photography and sculptures. Artists of any kind, be it a local or a well-known artist are welcome to showcase their work, free of cost. The cafe believes in promoting art and not making profits. Shows on photography, dance and other art forms are also conducted here. Here is an interesting part, there is no Wi-Fi.
