Bengaluru based pastery chef Prathna Narang was recently announced as the winner of second edition of Callebaut Patissier Of The Year.

With a theme of ‘Future Of Chocolate’, the second edition witnessed
a nationwide hunt for India’s best gourmet pastry chef via three boot camps, in Mumbai, Bengaluru and Delhi.

The finalists had to experiment with colours, shapes and textures, to tickle the jury’s senses. Talking about her experience in the contest, Prathna says, “It was a great experience. I was fascinated to see how everyone’s take on one dish can be so different.”

Prathna kept cocoa as her main ingredient and came up with a dish based on the theme of ‘Artificial Intelligence (AI) taking over the world’.

Prathna, who has a B.Com degree, realised her interest in baking only after her graduation.

“I learnt about Lavonne Academy and joined for a course on baking. That is when my interest in this field developed,”she adds.

Now her life revolves around the art of patisserie.

“Not a lot of parents encourage a career in baking. But in the end, it is the individual’s choice. If you have a passion for baking, nothing can stop you,”she adds.

“I am excited to see what my future has to offer,”she adds.
