Musical tribute

An evening of musical tribute to the late maestro J T William Joseph called No Man is an Island will be held on November 1, 6 pm at the St Andrew’s Church. The concert will be conducted and directed by Ashley William Joseph.

Vocals
International Music and Arts Society will present a Carnatic vocal by Sandeep Narayan on October 30, 7 pm at the Smriti Nandan Cultural Centre, 15, Palace Road. He will be accompanied by R Shankaranarayan (mridangam) and B Ananthakrishnan (violin).

Festival
Hamsadhwani Creations is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year with a three-day music festival on November 20, 21 and 22 at the Bangalore Gayana Samaja. As a prelude to the fest, music competitions dedicated to devi krithis will be conducted on October 31 at Ananya Sabhangana, 91/2, 4th Main, Malleswaram. For details, call 23542725/9379713120).

‘Teen Prahar’
Banyan Tree, a Mumbai-based cultural organisation, presents Teen Prahar, a day-long classical music festival on November 1 at Chowdiah Memorial Hall, from 10 am to 10 pm. The festival is a celebration of the rich heritage of classical Indian music and includes performances by Vishwa Mohan Bhatt (Mohan Veena), violin-duo Ganesh-Kumaresh, flute artists Shashank and Rakesh Chaurasia, vocalist Ajay Pohankar, sitarist Ravindra Chary and keyboard player Abhijit Pohankar.

Devotional strains
Saraswati Sangeet Vidyalaya presents Bhakti Naada Sourabha, a festival of devotional music, on November 8 at the Ravindra Kalakshetra, from 10 am to 8.30 pm. The Govind Lakshmi Puraskar will also be awarded on this occasion.

Flights of Fantasy
Ganjam presents Flights of Fantasy, a three-day Carnatic music extravaganza from November 5 to 7 at the Chowdiah Memorial Hall. The proceedings will begin with the vocal duet of Lalgudi Krishna and Vijayalakshmi on November 5. Harikatha exponent Vishaka Hari and vocal artistes Ranjani and Gayatri will perform on November 6 and 7 respectively. All the performances will begin at 6.30 pm.
