Hours after there was an outrage over ‘deliberate delay’ by cops in alleged Alwar lynching case, the Rajasthan police suspended Assistant Sub Inspector Mohan Singh and sent three constables to police lines on Monday evening for their delay in taking injured Akbar Khan to hospital.

Mohan Singh Assistant sub-inspector who along with the three constables went to lynching spot where Akbar was lying covered in mud was suspended.

The three constable constables Vijay Singh, Surendra Singh and Harendra Singh were sent to the police lines. DG Police (law and order) NRK Reddy accepted that there was a delay in taking Akbar Khan to hospital. He told media, “There was an error of judgment. The police officers thought injuries were not serious that he will succumb to the injuries. We are investigating the case and if more lapses found we will take action”.

Hours after the Rajasthan Police faced questions over its delayed conduct in the reported lynching of Akbar Khan, on Monday, a high-level team of four senior officers was constituted by the Rajasthan Police to probe the case.

The four-member team consists of Special Director General of Police (Law & Order) N R K Reddy, Additional DGP (CID-Crime Branch) P K Singh, Inspector General of Police (Jaipur Range) Hemant Priyadarshi and State Nodal Officer (Cow Vigilance) Mahendra Singh Chaudhary.

Rajasthan DGP O P Galhotra, in a statement, assured that the team would look into the reported delay in response and other aspects of the reported lynching.

“The team will check if there was a ‘deliberate delay’ in taking Akbar to the hospital. On the basis of the report submitted by the team, strict action will be taken against those found guilty,” Galhotra said.

The entire team reached Alwar on Monday.

After the delay in response, the case was shifted out of Alwar late on Sunday night.

The newly formed investigation officer for the case is Vandana Bhatti, Additional SP (Crime & Vigilance), Jaipur range.
