As the Bihar intermediate students continued to protest over the fallacious marking, former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav hit out at Nitish Kumar and asked him to tender an unconditional apology to students for ruining their career.

Launching a scathing attack on education system in Bihar, particularly the large-scale discrepancies in marksheets of the intermediate students, Tejashwi tweeted: “There are many students who scored more than the maximum marks! But no one wants to plug the gaping holes. Nitish Ji must be ashamed of such repeated discrepancies occurring every year. If he hasn’t, then he must apologise. Every year there is ‘ghotala’ in Bihar board results.”

Deccan Herald had last week carried a report how the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) gave zero or two/three marks to such intermediate students (in science subjects) who had cleared the Joint Entrance Examination (Mains).

In another tweet hitting out at the Chief Minister on the issue, Tejashwi said, “Nitish Kumar’s trademark ‘Show degree, get contractual job’ formula has spoiled the education system, the future of two generations, quality training & teaching standards of Bihar. Ask anyone genuinely, they will tell the truth & difference.”

The RJD heir apparent also questioned the appointment of lakhs of contractual teachers in government schools who have no knowledge of how to teach.

The leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Tejashwi did not spare even senior BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi either. “Till last year, Sushil Modi was labelling BSEB as incompetent, corrupt, useless & insensitive body led by Nitish Ji. Now despite all the protests, gaping holes, discrepancies and suffering students, no word from ‘Khulasa Miyan’ Sushil Modi!,” tweeted Tejashwi.

The JD (U) has, meanwhile, taken umbrage at Tejashwi’s sharp attacks. “Everyone knows that the education system turned from bad to worse during Lalu-Rabri regime. But it’s good that their son Tejashwi, a Class VIIIth pass-out, is now speaking on education system,” said JD (U) spokesperson and a close Nitish’s aide, Neeraj Kumar.
