A hardcore National Democratic Front of Bodoland (S) ‘army chief’ Rabi Basumatary was arrested from Chirang district in Assam during a joint operation launched by the Army, Assam Police and the Sashastra Seema Bal.
According to sources, a joint operation was launched in the wee hours on Friday after specific intelligence about NDFB(S) movement near the Hakua River in Chirang district. Basumatary alias Rongjabaja along with his body guard Jwnglaw Narzary were surrounded and nabbed.
In another major success, a joint forces team led by Assam Police IGP L R Bishnoi, arrested six suspected jihadi terror suspects in the same district.
