Chhattisgarh Congress leaders, led by their president Bhupesh Baghel, staged a sit-in demonstration in front of the office of state Chief Electoral Officer alleging a violation of election code of conduct.

The Congress charged the BJP of blatant violation of the model code by luring voters with liquor. The rally of BJP national president Amit Shah criss-crossed the city without prior permission of the Returning Officers concerned, it charged.

No action

The Congress alleged that their complaints were not being taken seriously by the office of CEO and no action was being initiated. The BJP was also spreading the fake news on social media, it said, adding that against rules, non-electors like BJP national general secretary Anil Jain and co-organisational secretary Saudan Singh were in Raipur holding meetings with the Chief Minister at the party office.

The Congress said its request for permission for the party's Chhattisgarh in-charge P L Punia to stay in Raipur was not granted. The delegation demanded immediate action against the BJP for all the code violations.
