Senior Trinamool Leader and MP Sougata Roy has quit as the advisor to the West Bengal government’s Commerce, Industries and IT Ministry, once again exposing the infighting within the party, reports DHNS from Kolkata.

Roy was having serious differences with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and State Commerce and Industry Minister Partha Chatterjee over the government’s new industrial policy.

Roy had submitted a draft of the industrial policy to the state government in which he had advocated for the government’s role in acquiring land for the industries, an issue totally opposed by the chief minister. When asked about his resignation, Roy told Deccan Herald: “I will not make any comment on this issue”.
