UP cop makes man rub nose on his boot

A constable of the Uttar Pradesh Police, which is infamous for its brutality, reportedly forced a man to rub his nose on his (cop's) boot before letting him free.

The shocking incident occurred at Kurra area in the state's Mainpuri district, about 300 km from here, on Monday. The victim has been identified as Sudhir Kumar.

The matter came to light when a video of the incident went viral on social media.

According to reports, Sudhir had an altercation with another resident of the village.

The other man approached the constable, whom he already knew, and sought help.

The officer caught hold of Sudhir and beat him up with his belt till he begged for mercy. He was then asked to rub his nose on the boot and only then was he allowed to leave, reports said.

As the video went viral, senior police officials ordered an investigation, sources said.

District police chief Ajai Shankar Rai said that a circle officer-level official had been asked to investigate and submit a report. He promised strong action if the allegations are true.

A few months ago, a senior police official had blown smoke to the face of a lady constable inside a police station in the district.
