Lashing out at Union Home Minister Amit Shah, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said that his threatening body language and foul words were unbecoming of a home minister.

Her comments come hours after Shah said that the people would uproot the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government from Bengal and vote the BJP to power in the Assembly elections.

"The way he was speaking was as if he was physically threatening someone. Such comments are unbecoming of a Union Home Minister," said Mamata. She was speaking at an event in Kolkata.

Without naming Shah, the TMC supremo said: "Today he has come here again. We welcome everyone. But the way he spoke, his body language, foul words, demonic mentality - it seemed that he has come here to threaten with blatant abuse of power."

Making it clear that she would not back down from the BJP, Mamata said that she would rather slit her own throat but never surrender to the BJP.

The feisty TMC supremo warned the BJP that an electoral battle against her would not be an "easy game" for them and those who collided with her would be smashed to pieces.

"The game will not be so easy. ‘Didi se jo takraiga, chur chur ho jaiga’(those who collide with Didi will be smashed to pieces," said Mamata.

The TMC supremo challenged the BJP to a "game of politics and democracy" and said that it could even have the Left and the Congress on its side.

"I will be the goalkeeper. Let’s see how many goals you can score," said Mamata.

"You can abuse me but you cannot ignore me. After looting farmers, after not allowing me to practice my religion, after doing riots you want Bengal?" she asked, adding that she would not allow hooliganism in Bengal.
