India on Wednesday lodged a strong protest with Pakistan over violation of ceasefire by the neighbouring country's soldiers along the Line of Control in Sunderbani Sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

An official of the High Commission of Pakistan in New Delhi was summoned to the Ministry of External Affairs, where senior officials conveyed to him India's “strong concerns” over continued unprovoked firing and ceasefire violations by the neighbouring country's soldiers across the Line of Control and the undisputed stretch of the border.

They particularly conveyed to Pakistan High Commission official New Delhi's protest over the death of an innocent civilian in unprovoked ceasefire violation by the neighbouring country's soldiers on January 11 in Sunderbani Sector.

“We also protested Pakistan’s continued support to cross-border terrorist infiltration into India, including supporting cover fire provided by Pakistan forces,” Raveesh Kumar, the spokesperson of the MEA, said.
