The DGP told the high court on Wednesday that only three of the 18 reports he received on the matter from superintendents of police from different parts of the state expressed some doubts about such a tendency.

However, in the absence of solid proof, more investigation was still continuing into these incidents.

Meanwhile, Justice K T Sankaran has said that the term “Love Jihad’’ was not invented by the court but was mentioned in the report of the police which investigated the incidents.

He said he was dismissing some news reports appearing against him in this connection with due disregard. Justice Sankaran made these observations while hearing a plea filed by the Association for Human Rights praying for a direction to the media to refrain from using terms such as “Love Jihad” and “Romeo Jihad.”

The association claimed that these terms were damaging the reputation of Muslim youths.

However, Justice Sankaran said that since these terms were included in the police report, a directive could not be issued on these lines. Meanwhile, the Central intelligence Bureau has sought two more weeks to file a report on the matter.
