Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Thursday said the state government would “continue” to ensure foolproof protection of wealth in the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple.
He was responding to questions posed by mediapersons on the Supreme Court’s interim order to constitute a new committee for administration of temple affairs.
“Over the last three years, the state government has taken extensive measures to ensure security on the temple premises. About Rs 36 crore was also spent in this connection. The government has no anxiety and we will continue to act according to the Supreme Court directives,” Oommen Chandy said here.
The chief minister refused to comment further on amicus curiae Gopal Subramaniam’s report submitted to the Supreme Court that alleged pilferage of temple wealth.
