Lynching could lead to another partition: PDP MP Baig

People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader and Member of Parliament (MP) Muzaffar Hussain Baig on Saturday warned of another partition of India if lynching of Muslims in the name of cow-smuggling were not stopped immediately.

“There has already been a partition in 1947. More could take place if you don’t stop killings of Muslims in the name of cows and buffaloes,” Baig warned while addressing workers at the PDP's 19th foundation day here.

Reacting to various incidents of mob lynching, he appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to stop this practice. Baig said that the PDP had allied with the BJP so that justice is done to Muslims across the country and Kashmiri people.

“I realise this thing that we allied with the BJP and several people said that we allied with a party that is an enemy of Muslims. And it is true,” he said.

“We allied with the BJP so that they can trust Muslims and treat them with justice,” the PDP MP said, adding that the alliance was not made for the sake of chair.

“We allied with the BJP so that justice is done to Muslims and Kashmiris and talks with Pakistan can take place.”
