Mentally-challenged minor raped, filmed

Rapes of children continue to haunt the country with a grisly case being reported from the national capital, where a 12-year-old mentally-challenged girl was raped and the act was recorded on video.

Three men were arrested on charges of rape after victim's mother filed a complaint after seeing the video. The victim’s neighbour Bunty (32) reportedly raped her while his two friends recorded the act.

According to police, Bunty lured the girl to a secluded place near a community centre in the locality and sexually assaulted the girl on April 13.

The incident came to light next day on April 14 when the victim's mother received the video, which was also circulated to others on WhatsApp. The mother immediately informed police about the incident following which Bunty and others were caught.

The accused have been slapped with stringent provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, Indian Penal Code and Information Technology Act, police said on Wednesday.

Investigators identified the location of the incident after watching the video besides recovering the mobile phone used to film the act.

The victim's family is claiming that they are being pressurised by the accused's family to withdraw the case. The officials said the accused was known to the family.

The girl stays with her family in Mangolpur Kalan of north-west Delhi's Rohini.
