Rafale deal is a 'surgical strike on forces': Rahul

Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday launched a fresh attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi accusing him of launching a “surgical strike” on the armed forces along with businessman Anil Ambani.

“The PM and Anil Ambani jointly carried out a One Hundred & Thirty Thousand Crore, SURGICAL STRIKE on the Indian Defence forces,” Rahul tweeted hours after former French president Francois Hollande's remarks on India proposing Reliance Defence as the offset partner for the Rafale deal triggered a political storm.

“Modi Ji you dishonoured the blood of our martyred soldiers. Shame on you. You betrayed India's soul,” Rahul said.

The Congress has been attacking the prime minister over the Rafale deal and has been demanding a Joint Parliamentary Committee to probe the contract.

Former Union minister Kapil Sibal said Hollande has “spilled the beans” about the Rafale deal and demanded that the Modi government “come clean and tell the truth”.

Congress chief spokesman Randeep Singh Surjewala said “facts” have cut through the "fog" and obfuscation and smokescreens won't cover the “tracks of corruption”.
