Parl to mark 70 yrs of Constitution adoption on Nov 26

A joint sitting of both the Houses of Parliament is scheduled on November 26 to celebrate 70 years of the adoption of the Indian Constitution.

President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the special sitting, while Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will make special intervention.

Besides the members of both houses of the Parliament, former presidents and prime ministers too are expected to attend the event, which will be held in the Central Hall of the Parliament.

The joint sitting will start on November 26 forenoon and is expected to continue for two hours.

The Constitution was adopted by the Constituent Assembly of India on November 26, 1949, and came into force on January 26, 1950.
