The total expenditure ran into Rs 5,90,21,786, which did not include routine recurring expenditure on the annual revision of electoral rolls from 1953 onwards.
Rs 21,08,660 was realised through forfeiture of deposits of candidates, sale of electoral rolls, inspection fees etc.
