The total expenditure incurred on preparation and revision of electoral rolls for the 1962 polls was around Rs 2.32 crore and the expenditure incurred on the conduct of the general elections was approximately Rs 5 crore.
It is gratifying that on the whole the conduct of elections cost less than the second general elections of 1957, the Election Commission had then said.
