There has been no ceasefire violation on the border in Jammu and Kashmir for the past one day, an official said Monday.

"There has been no violation of ceasefire on the border...for the past one day," a senior official of the provincial administration told IANS in Jammu.

The Pakistan Rangers had fired at Indian positions in Pargwal area of R.S. Pura sector Sunday at 10.30 a.m. without any provocation, he said.

"Despite the firing, the BSF (Border Security Force) had maintained restraint by not responding to it," the officer said.

"There has been calmness on the border in Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts for the past one day," a senior police officer told IANS.

Over 30,000 residents of border villages are still in relief camps away from their homes. Eight civilians have been killed and 62 injured in Pakistan firing in Jammu region since Oct 6.
