Pro-CAA, 'shoot the traitors' slogans raised on Delhi Metro train, station

Half-a-dozen youth on Saturday chanted "shoot the traitors" and slogans in support of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) inside a metro train and later at Rajiv Chowk metro station following which they were detained.

Six youths, attired in saffron T-shirts, first started sloganeering when the train on the Blue Line was to halt at the Rajiv Chowk metro station in Connaught Place. They continued their slogans , which included 'Desh ke Gaddaron ko, Goli maaron saalon ko' (Shoot the traitors), after alighting the train.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur had landed in controversy during Delhi Assembly election campaign when he egged supporters on chanting 'shoot the traitors'.

Some of the commuters also joined the youth in sloganeering while some others immediately posted videos of the same on social media.

Personnel of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) immediately intercepted them and handed them over to the police.

The CISF said in a statement, "On February 29, at about 10:25 hours, six youths were seen shouting slogans at Rajiv Chowk metro station, Delhi. They were immediately intercepted by CISF personnel and thereafter handed over to Delhi Metro Rail Police officials for further action."

Delhi Metro Executive Director (Corporate Communications) Anuj Dayal said, "in reference to a video clip going viral on social media, showing sloganeering by some passengers at Rajiv Chowk Metro station, it is to state that this incident happened today (Saturday) morning at the station and DMRC/CISF staff immediately handed them over to the Delhi Metro Rail Police for further necessary action."

Demonstration of any kind is prohibited on any part of the metro railway or other premises under Delhi Metro (Operation and Maintenance) Act 2002. Any passenger indulging in such act is liable to be removed from the Metro premises.
