Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday invoked the “GST spirit” and hoped that the monsoon session of Parliament would be fruitful with cooperation from all political parties.“

GST has proved that when all political parties and all governments take decisions purely in national interest, they can do important work in the nation’s interest,” Modi told reporters outside the parliament.“Growing Stronger Together, this is another name for the GST spirit.

This session should also move ahead in the same GST spirit,” he said.He also bowed to the farmers whose hard work during the monsoon season helps in ensuring food security for the nation. The prime minister also noted that during the monsoon session the nation will get an opportunity to elect its new President and vice president.

“This session is important because on August 15 the nation completes its seven-decade journey since Independence. August 9 also marks the 75th anniversary of  the Quit India Movement,” he said. “That is why the nation’s eyes will be on this session. I am confident that all parties, all MPs will take important decisions and engage in quality debate, ensure value addition in thinking and work,” he said.
