Last Updated 21 August 2018, 14:30 IST

The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday decided to restore the provisions pertaining to anticipatory bail following Supreme Court directions.

The state cabinet gave its nod for the proposal to amending Section 438 of the CrPC (Uttar Pradesh).

A bill in this regard would be tabled in the forthcoming session of the state Assembly.

Arvind Kumar, Uttar Pradesh principal secretary for home, said that the amended law would take effect after being adopted by the house and approved by the Centre.

He said that the anticipatory bail provisions would be restored with certain conditions.

''There will be no anticipatory bail in cases, where the punishment is death sentence and also cases under the Gangster's Act,'' he added.
