Chaos prevailed at Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Kumar Vishwas’s press conference here on Saturday when a youth, said to be a Samajwadi Party (SP) worker, created ruckus and threw an egg at him in protest against Vishwas’s alleged comments on “Muharram”.

The youth, Saif Zafri, from Bijnore, was taken into custody. He was also roughed by AAP workers.

Midway through the press conference, Saif raised slogans against Vishwas and also threw an egg at the AAP leader, though it missed the target. He was caught by AAP workers, who then assaulted him.

While Vishwas termed it a political conspiracy, the youth claimed that he wanted to slap Vishwas for his remarks on Imam Hussain and Lord Shiva. “One cannot expect a person to respect his country if he has no respect for religion,” Saif told reporters. However, Vishwas said he would not be deterred by such acts. “Those who think that they can stop me from contesting from Amethi, they are wrong. I will not withdraw,” he said.

Taking a dig at Kiran Bedi for her tweet supporting Narendra Modi, Vishwas said barely a few months ago, she was against all those parties which were opposed to granting full autonomy to the CBI.

Meanwhile, hoardings terming AAP leaders, including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, anti-nationals had come up in Amethi ahead of the rally on Sunday.

Posters and hoardings have reportedly been put up by the Rashtriya Rashtravadi Party, a little-known outfit, which claimed that AAP leaders were anti-national as they had desecrated the tricolour.
