Stars witness Kerala tourism film premiere

Titled “Your Moment is Waiting,”  Kerala Tourism’s latest destination campaign film premiered at the Saatchi Gallery in London to a tremendous reaction from the crowd.

Soccer stars Didier Drogba, Gary Linekar, actors Bill Nighy, Dev Patel, Sadie Frost and Dougray Scott, glamour couple Yasmin and Simon Le Bon, British MPs Lord Swaraj Paul and Keith Vaz, models Anna Friel, Jade Jagger, Daisy Lowe, Meg Mathews and TV presenters Lisa Snowdon and Mariella Frostrup were some of the 150 guests who attended the event. Representing Mollywood at the gala event was actor Mohanlal.

“I hope you have enough beds in Kerala, I can see this campaign getting a lot of people visiting the God’s Own Country after seeing the film,’’ said Chelsea striker and captain of Ivory Coast Didier Drogba.

“This 3-minute glimpse of Kerala is mesmerising and I think people are going to want to see this film again and again” said veteran actor Bill Nighy.

During the course of the evening, the stars were treated to live “Mohiniyattom,” “Ottamthullal” performances by Corinne Mathou from France and Hartmut Schmidt from Germany. Both artistes fell in love with the Kerala dance forms and have lived in the southern state for nearly 10 years to master the art. 

In keeping with the theme of the evening, guests were also treated to exquisite Kerala cuisine by Michelin chef Sriram Aylur of the award-winning Quilon Restaurant in London which specialises in South Indian food.

Jimi Mistry of “East is East” and “Blood Diamond” fame was the compere for the evening.
The campaign will run in cinemas across the UK, on CNN Europe and also hit Youtube in the UK, Germany, France and India this week.
