Acting on a tip-off, forest personnel on patrol duty in Hasanur forest area yesterday detained three persons in a small hut while they were cleaning deer meat, officials said.
Periyan (28), Sadayan (30) and Thangan (31), all belonging to Arepalayam forest area near Hassanur, admitted they had collected the meat from a dead deer in Arepalayam area after it had been killed by some animal, officials said. The three detained persons were let off after they paid the fine, they added.
