The Trinamool Congress (TMC) and BJP members almost came to blows in the Lok Sabha with the former accusing the ruling party of “threatening and abusing” their leaders in the House.

The ugly scenes took place minutes after TMC members forced an adjournment in the Lok Sabha when Congress Deputy Leader Amarinder Singh had initiated a discussion on the issue of price rise.

Tempers soared in the Lok Sabha as TMC members Kalyan Banerjee and Kakoli Ghosh-Dastidar among others continued raising slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the House was adjourned. BJP member Hukum Dev Narain Yadav was in the chair.

Sparks flew as BJP members responded to the Trinamool aggression by raising slogans “abki baar Modi sarkar”.

The Trinamool and BJP members were soon facing each other in the House, which prompted Union Ministers Prakash Javadekar and Kalraj Mishra to rush to the Well to cool tempers. A couple of House Marshals were also seen near the members, but they were sent back by Javadekar.

Banerjee, meanwhile, rushed out of Parliament shouting that a drunk BJP member had threatened to beat up members of the Trinamool Congress and disrobe Ghosh-Dastidar. BJP member Jagadambika Pal denied the allegations.
