Here are some of the controversial statements Thakur has made after being announced at the Bhopal candidate:

May 16 - "Nathuram Godse was a patriot, is a patriot, and will always be a patriot." The statement landed her into a media restraint for 72 hours by her own party, according to reports.

April 26 - "Will totally ban consumption and sale of beef in Goa, North-East and South India, if BJP comes to power." This statement became viral on Twitter and was later proved fake due to the lack of a credible source.

April 20 - "Ram Mandir hum banayenge aur bhavya banayenge, hum todne gaye the dhancha, maine chadhkar toda tha dhancha, iss par mujhe bhayankar garv hai. Mujhe Ishwar ne shakti di thi humne desh ka kalank mitaya hai” (A grand Ram temple will be built. I had gone to demolish the structure and had climbed atop it to break the structure. I am tremendously proud of it. God gave me the strength to wipe off a blot on this country)," She received a notice from the Election Commission of India for this statement as it was in violation of the Model Code of Conduct.

April 18 - "Hemant Karkare falsely implicated me. He died of his karma. I told him, he will be destroyed. I told him his entire dynasty will be erased. Maine kaha tera [Karkare] sarvanash hoga,” she said at a press conference. She was criticized for her comment and was made to apologize.

The BJP candidate was accused in the 2008 Malegaon attack and is awaiting trial. She is currently out on bail.

Thakur contested against the general secretary of the AICC, Digvijaya Singh in the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha Polls.
