President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated a memorial of former prime minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee to the nation in New Delhi at Rashtriya Smriti Sthal near Rajghat on Tuesday.

They also paid floral tributes to Vajpayee at his memorial—'Sadaiv Atal.'

Former prime minister Manmohan Singh and family members of Vajpayee also offered floral tributes to the late prime minister at his memorial.

Several other dignitaries including Union ministers and BJP president Amit Shah attended the event.

"Tributes to Atal Ji on his Jayanti. We reiterate our commitment towards creating the India he dreamt of," Modi tweeted.

Sadaiv Atal memorial, which is spread over 1.5 acre of land at Rashtriya Smriti Sthal where Vajpayee's mortal remains were consigned to flames with full state honours on August 17, has been built by the Centre Public Works Department (CPWD) at a cost of Rs 10.51 crore.

The project was funded by the Atal Smriti Nyas Society.

Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, Bihar Governor Lalji Tandon, Gujarat Governor O P Kohli, BJP leaders Vijay Kumar Malhotra and Ram Lal are among the founding members of the society.
